Reeves Pleads for Support from Giants Fans

A day after ripping New York Giants fans for booing his team and former quarterback Tommy Maddox, Dan Reeves begged them Tuesday for their support, saying his young team faces a rough road this season and needs them.

Seemingly carrying an olive branch for the Giants' faithful, Reeves admitted the fans have always been there for the team. But he asked them to be patient with a team that is trying to rebound after missing the playoffs the past two seasons.

"This is a young football team, let us play before you make up your minds," Reeves said Tuesday after practice at Giants Stadium. "Young guys, I don't know what your expectations of them are, but young guys need a lot of support and that's what I am asking. Fans have been great in New York. We just need all the help we can get."

The comments were a far cry from Monday's post-practice interview in which Reeves accused Giants fans of being easily swayed by the media, too quick to boo players and failing to create a supportive atmosphere at Giants Stadium. …
