2 At City Jail May Lose Jobs Over Escapes Two corrections officers may lose their jobs because of the escapes last month of three inmates from the city jail. Corrections Commissioner Howard Ferguson recommended Thursday firing the two officers. The city's personnel department will decide whether to act on Ferguson's recommendation. The officers were working on the third floor of the jail when the inmates escaped. They have been on forced leave since shortly after the escapes. LOUIS AREA Dole Plans TV Ads, Seeking To Catch Wave Heartened by a new poll showing more Missouri support, Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole is putting television ads on the air in St. Louis and other major markets. Ray Gruender, executive director for the Dole/Kemp campaign in Missouri, said the ads could begin airing as soon as today. The national campaign hadn't been running ads in Missouri but changed its mind Thursday after a recent poll showed Dole only a few percentage points behind President Bill Clinton, Gruender said. …
