Two female students were stabbed Monday afternoon at Roosevelt High School during an altercation involving several students, authorities said.

Both victims are 15, police said. One was stabbed in the chest and the other in the upper abdomen.

Five other female students, ages 15 and 16, also were involved in the fight. Three 15-year-olds were arrested and charged with assault under the Juvenile Code. Two others were charged with assault and placed in the custody of their parents. The police department's juvenile division was investigating the stabbings Monday. The names of the victims and those charged were not released because those involved are juveniles. The injured students were taken to St. Louis University Medical Center, said Chester Edmonds, a spokesman for the St. Louis School system. The teen who was stabbed in the abdomen reportedly was treated and released. The student who was stabbed in the chest was admitted but is expected to be released today. …
