Lewis & Clark To Hold Enrollment Meeting

Lewis & Clark Career Center, the area's vocational high school, offers a variety of programs to high school juniors and seniors. The school will hold a new student enrollment informational meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the multipurpose room at Lewis & Clark, 2400 Zumbehl Road, St. Charles. The meeting will last about an hour. Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to attend. Typically, students spend half of their school day at their regular high school and the other half at Lewis & Clark learning job skills. Programs offered include auto repair, auto-service technology, brick and stone masonry, building trades, computer-information systems, data management, design drafting, electronics, electrical trades, health-related occupations, lawn and garden repair, supermarket careers, welding and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning skills. St. Charles County County Collector Mails Property Tax Bills The St. Charles County Collector's Office has sent out more than 201,000 real estate and personal-property tax bills for 1996. For homeowners who pay a monthly escrow to a mortgage company, those real estate bills are mailed directly to the mortgage company for payment. All personal-property tax bills go directly to the residents. The collector's office says people who have vehicle-license tags due in January should pay their personal-property taxes early. They are due Dec. 31, but early payment will ensure that receipts can be issued before the end of January. A personal-property tax receipt is needed to renew license plate tags. For the convenience of taxpayers, the County Collector of Revenue and Assessor Offices at 201 North Second Street in St. Charles will be open from 9 a.m. to noon the last three Saturdays in December.
