The clock is ticking.

The Bruins' situation is grim. After losing four in a row (winless in their six, 0-5-1), they are five games below .500 - put simply, the Bruins have played 30 games and lost half of them.

They face the Penguins tonight in Pittsburgh, where they haven't won in nearly seven years, a span of 12 games (0-11-1). Another loss like the last two, in which the Bruins were outscored, 10-0, means curtains for someone. "When you lose this much . . . everyone's job is in jeopardy," said assistant general manager Mike O'Connell prior to the team's departure for Pittsburgh on Monday afternoon. O'Connell said if he could add a single element to pull the team out of the fire, it would be "a character-type player who'd come in and say, `Hop on', whether it be a young guy or developing guy, but I think that's what this team needs. …
