Home Depot has asked Bridgeton for permission to build a shopping center at St. Charles Rock Road and Lindbergh Boulevard.

The shopping center would have 220,000 square feet of retail area on 21.2 acres. Home Depot would take 130,000 square feet of the space for a hardware store with two other stores sharing the remaining space to the east. The shopping center would have 857 parking spaces.

The Home Depot project is expected to cost as much as $36 million, said Jim Arnold, Bridgeton's administrative assistant. Home Depot has asked for $8 million in special financing, Arnold said. The shopping center would be diagonally northwest of Northwest Plaza. It would take roughly the area bounded by the rear of the Radisson hotel property line, Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Charles Rock Road and the rear property line of businesses fronting on Fee Fee Road.
