Soccer Coach Leaves School amid Player's Charges

A part-time soccer coach has left St. Charles High School after a player accused the coach of threatening to kill him.

Leroy Notice, who coached the junior varsity team, on Friday said he was no longer an employee of the school district. He declined to give details.

The boy's mother, Mitzi Reinecke, said the incident occurred during a junior varsity game Monday. Her son, freshman John Pace, and other players were bored and were kicking dirt, some of which hit the coach, she said. She said the coach then ordered the boys back to the bench and told her son: "If you ever kick anything at me, I'll kill you." Reinecke said Thursday that police told her that "when the coach made the threat that he was going to kill him, if the boy's initial reaction was fear, that constitutes criminal assault." She said John, 15, told her he was scared. St. Charles High School principal Jerry Cook said, "The situation has been dealt with." He declined to comment further. …
