Lincoln County is taking the first step in turning 38 undeveloped acres into a booming industrial park.

The county has received a $422,500 loan from the state's Department of Economic Development to build the first building in the park.

The 30,000-square-foot building will be used to lure businesses to the area. "Whenever a business is getting ready to move a company, many times they don't have time to build a building from the ground up," explained department spokesman Jim Gardner. The business will be able to modify this shell building to fit their needs. Howard Briggs, administrator for Lincoln County Industrial Development Authority, said the first building will help draw business into the area. Many businesses want to see a building before they consider a proposal, Briggs said. "If you don't have a building, you don't have a chance to make a proposal," he said. With an industrial park, local people won't have to travel as far for good jobs, Briggs said. …
