VIOLENT DEATHS

Alton: A man found stabbed to death Wednesday in Rock Spring Park in Alton was identified Thursday as Kevin P. Creson, 25, of the 4100 block of Weskan Lane in Bridgeton. Police were still looking for Creson's car, a 1990 blue Chevrolet Beretta with Missouri license plates FYN163. A passer-by found Creson's body. ASSAULTS South St. Louis County: Carlos A. Sampson, 17, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., was charged Thursday with assaulting a law enforcement officer by trying to run over a St. Louis County patrolman who wanted to question him. The incident began about 1:45 a.m. Thursday on a parking lot at Telegraph and Baumgartner roads.so Police found Sampson parked in a space and approached his truck. Sampson accelerated, forcing the officer to jump out of the way. Sampson then struck the side of the patrol car and fled. Police cha sed him south on Interstate 55 to Pevely. He is being held at the St. Louis County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. UPDATE St. Louis: Lyndon G. Strickland, 45, of El Dorado, Ark., was charged Thursday with bank robbery in a holdup of the Mercantile Bank in St. Peters. Police arrested Strickland outside the bank after the robbery Wednesday. He was in federal custody.D A court document says a teller gave the robber $11,314 after he demanded money. A dye pack included with the money exploded outside the bank, spattering the robber with dye. Police say the man then got so mad that he went back inside and fired a shotgun blast over the teller's head. SHOOTINGS St. Clair County: Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who wounded Darnell McGee, 27, of East St. Louis, about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday and then ran through Parkfield Terrace, an unincorporated neighborhood between Centreville and Cahokia. Sheriff's investigator Jack Kaffer said the two men had quarreled, apparently over some stereo speakers in a car. …
