Gateway Boxing returns to The Heart of St. Charles Banquet Center for a seven-bout card Thursday.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the program to begin at 7:30 p.m. The banquet center is located at Fifth Street and I-70 in St. Charles.

St. Charles' Carlos Garza, a 130-pounder, will make his pro debut in the show, taking on Eric Burton of Columbia, Ind. Other scheduled bouts include: heavyweights John Alcorn (Oklahoma City) vs. Richard Davis (Joplin); 165-pounders Casey Evans (Florissant) vs. Bruno Davis (Bloomington, Ill.); 190-pounders Sidney Mack (Vinita Park) vs. Jason Jackson (Eufala, Okla.); heavyweights Dominick Aleman (Bloomington, Ill.) vs. Scott Conners (Fort Wayne, Ind); heavyweights Chuck McDowell (St. Louis) vs. Gary Edwards (Roxana, Ill.); and 205-pounders Jim Strohl (Decatur, Ill.) vs. John Wright (Shawnee, Okla.). Twelve men and women will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for their achievements in the following sports - baseball, softball, bowling, dartball and horseshoes. This year's inducteees include Richard Dwyer, Paul Wilmes and Jerry Kleeschulte in baseball, Jack Hammonds and Thomas Pryor in softball, Jack Ostmann and Ed Shrum in dartball, and Martha Terrill and Walter Stopke Sr. in bowling. John W. Conoyer, Paul Bierman and Victor W. Schlueter will be recognized for their contribution to all sports. Dwyer and Conoyer will be honored posthumously. Also to be honored that evening will be two St. Charles County athletes who participated in last summer's Olympic Games in Atlanta - St. Charles High graduate Connie Price-Smith and Francis Howell High graduate Jeff Hartwig. …
