VIOLENT DEATH

St. Louis: Joseph Tracy, 44, of St. Louis, was accused Saturday of fatally shooting a friend who had been talking to Tracy's wife in a tavern just north of downtown. Tracy was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action after David Kennedy, 49, of Herculaneum, was shot twice in the chest while he sat on a barstool in the Top of the Landing, a small tavern in the 1400 block of North Broadway at Cass Avenue. Tracy, of the 3900 block of North 20th Street, also was charged with first-degree assault for allegedly having wounded Steven Spink, 36, of St. Louis, the tavern's bouncer. Investigators and a tavern employee said Tracy had been in the tavern Friday evening with his wife. They left, but Tracy's wife returned and was talking to Kennedy when Tracy entered the tavern about midnight. He left again with his wife, then returned alone with a .38-caliber revolver and confronted Kennedy about 12:40 a.m. Saturday, police said. COURT ACTIONS Bismarck, Mo.: One of three men charged in the beating death of an eastern Missouri woman pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder. Greg Snyder, 18, of Park Hills, Mo., entered his plea in St. Francois County Circuit Court. Under terms of a plea agreement, Snyder will testify against co-defendants David Malady and Herbert Blackwell Jr. Malady, 22, of Park Hills, is to go on trial in October. No trial date has been set for Blackwell, 21, of Bismarck. Prosecutor David Orzel said Snyder will not be sentenced until after one or both of the trials. The plea agreement also calls for Snyder to serve a maximum of 13 years in prison. MISCELLANEOUS De Soto: The Jefferson County Humane Society has announced a $500 reward for information leading to conviction in the shooting and torture of a puppy that was found tied to a tree last Monday. …
