For the most part, the area's district soccer action is advancing as expected.

In District 7, second-seeded Francis Howell (14-8-2) moved into today's 4 p.m. final against top-seeded Visitation at Visitation Academy.

The District 8 title game, scheduled for 7 tonight at Pattonville, will feature the winners of Thursday's semifinals - top-seeded Parkway Central played No. 4 Duchesne (12-8-2) while No. 2 St. Charles West (18-4-1) and sixth-seeded Parkway North squared off. Francis Howell North is scheduled to play host to the District 9 championship match at 6:30 tonight. The combatants there will be the winners of Thursday's semifinals, which featured top-seeded Howell North (18-4-1) versus No. 5 Wentzville (13-11) and No. 2 St. Dominic (9-10-2) a gainst No. 3 Fort Zumwalt South (12-7-5). Today's winners advance to sectionals Thursday, with the quarterfinals set for May 31. The state tournament is to be played June 6-7 at A-B Conference and Sports Centre in Fenton. Following is a quick rundown of the games played earlier this week: * District 7 - Howell advanced to its expected showdown with Visitation, thanks to a 3-2 victory over third-seeded Principia Wednesday. Julie Davidson, Lauren Grossman and Carrie Becker scored for the Lady Vikings. In Tuesday's first round, Howell blitzed seventh-seeded Westminster Christian 8-0 as eight different players scored. The goal-scorers were Becker, Tamra Tungate, Shawna Meyer, Val DeVerger, Hilary Ricketson, Melissa McLellan, Michelle Bannister and Jean Scott. Tyanne Fries had the shutout. * District 8 - St. Charles West overcame a slow start to knock off sister school St. Charles 5-0 in Monday's opening-round game. Cristyn Jones scored three while Christina Moore and Andrea Mayhew added one goal apiece. Jill Kowalczyk had the shutout.
