Matt Lawton singled home the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Minnesota Twins rallied from four runs down to win for just the second time in 12 games, 9-8 over New York at Yankee Stadium on Monday night.

The Twins trailed 5-1 entering the fifth before homering their way back into it. Pat Meares and Chuck Knoblauch hit back-to-back shots in the fifth, and Terry Steinbach tied it 5-5 with a homer in the sixth inning.

After Minnesota took a 9-5 lead, Derek Jeter hit a three-run homer off Rick Aguilera with one out in the ninth, but the Twins were able to hang on. * Royals 2, Red Sox 0: Kevin Appier pitched his third complete game of the season and Jay Bell drove in both runs with a homer and sacrifice fly as Kansas City won in Boston. * Blue Jays 3, Tigers 1: Roger Clemens pitched a five-hitter and improved to 5-0 as Toronto won at home. …
