Suburban Newspaper Publishers Form Community Advertising Service Group

CONG Inc. (Central Oklahoma Newspaper Group), a new newspaper publishers representative sales firm for greater Oklahoma City papers, has been formed by three Oklahoma City suburban newspaper owners.

Principals in the new firm are Dick Hefton, publisher of the Midwest City Sun and East Oklahoma County newspaper group, who will serve as the new firm's president; Ed Livermore Jr., publisher of the Edmond Evening Sun, serving as the new firm's vice president and secretary; and J. Leland Gourley, publisher of Oklahoma City Friday, who will be vice president and treasurer of the new firm. Elizabeth Hobby has been named managing director.

The company will offer one-order, one-bill, one-check service to advertisers who want to reach local community newspaper readers more conveniently than having to make seven or eight separate buys. CONG Inc. has signed representation contracts with seven local newspaper groups.

DATATEK Corp. is conducting a workshop at 2 p.m. Thursday on LegisTrack, a new online service covering the Oklahoma Legislature beginning with the Jan. 7, 1986 legislative session.

The workshop, to be held at 818 NW 63rd St., will cover the types of information available and tracking bills, voting records, committee agendas and legislative news.

Soundtrak has designated all its stores as drop-off points for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve "Toys for Tots' program. The audio/video chain will match toy-for-toy each toy donated in Soundtrak stores.

The "Toys for Tots' program, founded in 1947 by Marine Col. Bill Hendrics, has grown from an annual Los Angeles area project to a nationwide campaign. It is designed to provide toys for needy children through the collection of new unwrapped toys. The toys are donated unwrapped so they may be categorized by age and gender for appropriate distribution. …
