ST. LOUIS > Jewish Federation picks new leader - The Jewish Federation of St. Louis said Wednesday it had named Andrew Rehfeld as its new chief executive officer and president.

Rehfeld, 46, is an associate professor of political science and professor of law at Washington University. His two-year contract begins Sept. 1.

The federation is the St. Louis Jewish community's central philanthropic and community service organization.

Rehfeld will succeed Barry Rosenberg, 61, who will retire in August 2013 after 20 years as the federation's top executive. (Tim Townsend)

DES PERES > Traffic changes OK'd for store - The Board of Aldermen has approved a number of traffic regulations in preparation for the opening of the new Dierbergs store at the southeast corner of Manchester and Lindemann roads on July 31.

No left turns will be allowed from Dierbergs at Lindemann onto westbound Manchester or from westbound Manchester into Dierbergs at Lindemann.

In addition, a four-way stop will be added on Tallie Drive at Manhattan Avenue, and parking will be prohibited along stretches of Tallie and Lindemann.

Commercial trucks will be prohibited along Lillian, Grant, Amherst and Devonshire, from Lindemann to Tallie. (Special to the Post-Dispatch)

CRESTWOOD > Tavern gets liquor license - The planned Pints and Rails tavern now has a liquor license, but owner William Winkler says his venture has been slowed by St. Louis County permit bureaucracy.

William Winkler, who has operated a martial arts school in an adjacent space for several years, will open the tavern at 8920-24 Watson Road in the former Value City shopping center in about a month, he said Tuesday night after the Board of Aldermen unanimously approved the license. The tavern will cater primarily to billiards and darts players. Winkler got a conditional use permit in January but has been awaiting county approvals for the building before he can proceed to open. …
