TOWN AND COUNTRY - In 2009, the Westminster football team upset MICDS 14-13 in the opening round of district action, knocking off the Rams for the first time.

In the teams' Metro League opener Friday afternoon, the Wildcats beat No. 7 small school MICDS for the second time, controlling the action from start to finish in a 34-0 rout.

"I think any time you win by a margin like that, it's a surprise," Westminster coach Cory Snyder said. "But that's especially true when you're playing a top program like MICDS. I knew we'd be better this season, but I don't think anybody expected this."

After recovering a fumble inside the Rams' 1, the Wildcats' Brett Bond scored on a quarterback sneak to put his team on top just seven seconds into the game.

"That really got everyone on our sideline pumped up," said Bond, who pushed the lead to 13-0 with a 57-yard bomb to Chris Cacciarelli later in the opening quarter.

After Westminster punter Travis Ralls pinned the Rams (0-2) with a kick that rolled dead at the MICDS 1, the Wildcats (2-0) forced a punt and took advantage of the field position. …
