O'FALLON, Mo. - The chance was there and the Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs went for it.

Dillon Bowman scored all eight points in overtime as the Bulldogs came away with the 22-21 win in Class 5 District 3 play at rival Zumwalt North Thursday.

Bowman scored on a 25-yard run on the Bulldogs' first possession of overtime and then rumbled in on the subsequent two-point conversion to seal the victory.

"I had to do this," Bowman said. "We couldn't lose. We had to do this for Chase (Abbington, who was lost with an injury)."

The decision to go for two points was easy for Zumwalt South coach Scott Fulton.

"It was cold, and I wanted to go home," laughed Fulton. "Seriously, we had the momentum, so it wasn't a difficult call."

Zumwalt North had taken the 21-14 overtime lead on Justin Manzella's 7-yard run and subsequent Jake Crowder extra point. …
