The most telling stat in SLUs 79-47 exhibition win over Division II Rockhurst on Saturday may be that the Billikens never called a time out.

Even the few blips at the start of the game were minor enough that the Billikens were able to play through them and by the time they got to the second half, SLU was on a roll, making 11 of its first 12 shots and opening a 63-32 lead.

The start of the second half, that was a good segment for us, interim coach Jim Crews said. We had things we talked about at halftime and they tweaked it and did a good job with the points of pressure that we wanted.

There were just four or five things we talked about, not huge things. Little steps here, start your positioning here, be a little bit higher here. We had some things we had to clean up.

We didnt come out like we needed to at the start of the game, said forward Cody Ellis, who had 12 points. The coaches told us what we needed to work on and we executed really well.

So if there was a concern about in-game management as SLU begins life without Rick Majerus, it was uncalled for on this occasion. …
