VALLEY PARK SCHOOLS > District to offer preschool tuition aid The Valley Park School District will offer tuition assistance for preschool children starting with the next school year, the School Board decided Wednesday night. Depending on family size and income, resident children may be able to qualify for 15 percent to 50 percent discounts, although the district will decide on what days and in which classes such students will be accommodated.

By filling what would otherwise be empty slots, we may be able to do this for little cost to the district. Peggy Witt, early childhood director, told the board.

Monthly fees will vary from as little as $60 for two days of late afternoon care to $425 for five days of extended day care, in a proposed tuition rate schedule for 2013-14.

Income guidelines for tuition assistance will be similar to those used for reduced price and free lunches, although the district does not receive state or federal aid for the preschool program, available to 3- to 5-year-olds. …
