Amendola Is Limited Again; Laurinaitis, Finnegan Sit out; Rams Notebook; Wide Receiver Hopes to Return from Heel and Foot Injury

The Rams injury report took one step forward, two steps back Wednesday.

Wide receiver Danny Amendola was listed as limited, participating primarily in individual drills. But a pair of defensive stalwarts missed practice, linebacker James Laurinaitis (back) and cornerback Cortland Finnegan (ankle). The extent of their injuries was unknown.

After his workout Wednesday, Amendola said: I felt pretty good about it. I was able to do some stuff. Well take it day by day and see how I feel.

Amendola injured his heel and foot against the Jets on Nov. 18. He was listed as doubtful for the game in Arizona on Nov. 25 but took seven snaps and made one catch before sitting out the second half. He didnt play Dec. 2 versus San Francisco and, though listed as questionable last week against Buffalo, he sat out again.

Its frustrating, not being able to be out there fighting with my guys, Amendola said. I just got to try to do my best to get back out there as soon as possible.

Coach Jeff Fisher sounded more optimistic early this week that Amendola would be able to play Sunday against the Vikings at the Edward Jones Dome.

Its uncomfortable, Fisher said. Its a foot injury that still needs to heal. Danny needs to be close to 100 percent to be effective to be able to protect himself, particularly.

Others missing practice were safety Craig Dahl, who suffered a concussion against the Bills and is going through the league- mandated protocol, and tight end Mike McNeill (thigh), who missed Sundays game. Running back Steven Jackson (foot) and center Scott Wells (knee) also sat out, which has become de rigueur for them on Wednesdays.

Linebacker Mario Haggan (elbow), who also was injured Nov. 18 but played Sunday, was listed as full participation.

POLITELY DEFERRING

With the exception of the game versus Washington on Sept. 16, the team that won the coin toss in Rams games this season elected to defer. …
