Chargers hire McCoy as coach

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was introduced Tuesday as the new coach of the San Diego Chargers.

McCoy replaces Norv Turner, who was fired along with general manager A.J. Smith after the Chargers finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the third straight season.

The Chargers announced the move three days after the top-seeded Broncos were eliminated from the playoffs in a double-overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

With the Chargers, McCoy will work with Philip Rivers, who struggled this season, in large part because of a shaky offensive line. Rivers was sacked 49 times and committed 22 turnovers, giving him 47 turnovers in two seasons.

Bradley gets second interview with Eagles Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley arrived in Philadelphia for his second interview with the Eagles, suggesting the nearly three-week search to replace Andy Reid could be nearing an end.

Bradley first met with the Eagles in Atlanta on Saturday, a day before Seattle lost to the Falcons in a NFC divisional playoff game. Hes the first of the 11 known candidates interviewed by Philadelphia to get a second meeting. Hes also expected to interview with Jacksonville this week.

The 46-year-old Bradley has emerged as a favorite among fans based mainly on an old video clip in which he rips into the Seahawks defense during a game, screaming Do your job!

Chiefs add assistants Coach Andy Reid hired former Bears assistant Dave Toub to direct special teams and announced that hes retaining linebackers coach Gary Gibbs and defensive backs coach Emmitt Thomas from the previous staff.

Pro Bowl comings and goings Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said injuries to multiple lower extremities will keep him out of the Pro Bowl.

Rodgers was set to be the NFCs starting quarterback. But the reigning NFL MVP said on his weekly radio show in Milwaukee that he didnt pass his year-end physical. He wouldnt get into specifics, though he did say injury to his right ankle that landed him on the injury report several times in the second half of the season has definitely been a problem. …
