COLLINSVILLE > Hit-and-run suspected Police here said Thursday that Anthony M. Connors, 22, found dead in a ditch along Belt Line Road, was likely the victim of a hit-and-run. Connors of the 600 block of Camelot Drive in Collinsville, was last seen about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the parking lot of a Burger King, just a few hundred yards from where his body was found, said police Maj. Tom Coppotelli. An off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction, who was jogging, found the body east of Route 157 at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said. Police said Connors might have been struck by a 2004-08 Ford truck or SUV, which may have front-end damage. Authorities said there were reports that a bumper or other vehicle parts might have been left near the scene but were removed, possibly by someone collecting scrap. EAST ST. LOUIS > Slain woman identified Authorities said Amanda Hand, 29, was the woman found shot to death on a street here about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Hand's most recent address was in Alton. Police have identified her as a prostitute. She was found with a gunshot wound to the head on 15th Street between Belmont Avenue and Ohio Avenue.

JEFFERSON COUNTY > Pedestrian killed by truck Jody A. Underwood, 35, was struck and killed about 4: 15 a. m. Thursday by a pickup as she walked on Highway 67 about a half mile north of Highway V, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. Underwood, of Hillsboro, was in the roadway when a 1998 GMC Sonoma came around a slight curve and hit her. She died at the scene. Patrol Sgt. Al Nothum said investigators were trying to find out why she was in the road and where she had been. The driver, 64, of Bonne Terre, Mo., was not charged.

ST. LOUIS > Man killed crossing street A man who was walking in a crosswalk against the light was struck by a car and fatally injured about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at Halls Ferry Road and Veronica Avenue, police said. They identified the victim as David Critten, 49, of the 8000 block of North Broadway. Officials said a woman, 57, driving north in a 2006 Chrysler sedan, stopped for a red signal. When the light changed, she pulled away and hit Critten as he crossed east on Veronica. Critten died at a hospital.

LINCOLN COUNTY > Two accused of selling bath salts drug A man and woman have been arrested for allegedly selling a synthetic drug known as bath salts from their home in Elsberry. Marcia L. Weimer, 49, and William L. Pennington, 43, of the 400 block of North Second Street, were charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance. According to court records, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Team served a search warrant at the home at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday and seized 19 aluminum foil packages containing bath salts, an illegal substance in Missouri. …
