COTTLEVILLE Fort Zumwalt North disposed of rival Fort Zumwalt South for the third time this season. Except this time, the stakes were much higher.

The Panthers earned their second district title in three years with a 78-60 victory in the Class 5 District 7 final Friday at Francis Howell Central.

Fort Zumwalt North (22-5) will play Hazelwood East or McCluer North at 6 p.m. Wednesday at UMSL. The Spartans and Stars play at noon Saturday.

Chaz Glotta netted a game-high 23 points for No. 9 Fort Zumwalt North, which jumped ahead in the first quarter and didnt looked back.

We always want to make a statement when we play, Glotta said. But to beat your rival in the district title game, its unreal. These are the games that you dream about.

Zach Glotta finished with 18 points and Kris McCann 14.

Preston Whitfield led Fort Zumwalt South (20-7) with 13 points.
