Passion play The annual New Melle Community Passion Play will present the story of the last days of Christ in performances this weekend and next weekend at the New Melle Sports & Recreation Center's main building, 4700 Highway Z. Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday and those same times on March 23 and 24. Donations will be taken to support the annual play. St. Patrick's Day parade The Ancient Order of Hibernians will hold their 30th annual St. Patrick's Day parade in the Dogtown neighborhood of St. Louis. The annual Irish gala event steps off at 12:30 p.m. Sunday south of the Tamm Avenue overpass at Oakland Avenue, then moves south on Tamm and ends at Manchester Avenue. Prizes will be awarded for best float, best Irish heritage theme, best family clan and best Hibernian float. Parade sponsors also will hold a contest for the best decorated house on the parade route along Tamm. www.stlhibernians.com

Historic photography Flannery Burke, a history professor at St. Louis University, will examine the career of photographer Dorothea Lange in a free program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the National Archives at St. Louis National Personnel Records Center, 1 Archives Drive in north St. Louis County. The program is in conjunction with an exhibit at the center titled "Through America's Lens: Focusing on the Greatest Generation 1920-1945," which includes historic photographs by Lange and some more of America's most famous photographers. The free exhibit runs through Sept. 27. If you are planning to attend the program on Lange, please register by email at stlpublic.programs@nara.gov or by calling 314-801-0847.
