Darrian Castro

St. Louis U. High water polo

A senior attacker and team captain, Castro is the leading scorer for the undefeated Jr. Bills (5-0), who have outscored opponents 98- 27. Last week in a 23-3 victory over Marquette, he piled up four goals and three assists, and he had a hat trick and one assist as SLUH defeated rival De Smet 16-9. Castro's biggest output of the season came when he scored seven goals and added an assist in an 18- 6 win over Parkway South. He is among the area scoring leaders with 25 goals and seven assists for 57 points.

Kayla Dye

Windsor soccer

A junior forward, Dye had six goals and two assists in two victories last week. Dye, who has a knack for finding open spaces and efficiently converting her opportunities, had a hat trick in a 4- 0 victory over Fredericktown and racked up three goals and two assists in 10-0 victory over Bayless. In four games this season, Dye has 11 goals and three assists for 23 points, which ranks fourth in the area scoring race. She was a first-team all-conference honoree in the Jefferson County Conference last season after totaling 21 goals and five assists.

Ashley Elbe

Freeburg softball

A senior shortstop who bats in the top part of the order, Elbe went seven-for-eight with a double, a walk, four runs scored and two RBI in two games last week. She was two-for-three with a walk, a double, a run scored and an RBI in a 13-6 loss to Gibault and went five-for-five with three runs scored and an RBI to lead the Midgets to a 10-3 win over Mascoutah. Elbe is one of the area batting leaders (.625) and has driven home six runs in seven games. She has signed with Lindenwood-Belleville on a volleyball scholarship.

A junior, Houston was the top point-getter at Saturday's Washington Pentathlon at Borgia, amassing 2,805 with three individual first-place finishes: the 100 hurdles (16.3), long jump (17-1) and 800-meter run (2:32.3).
