04.27 Earth Day at the garden * The Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Boulevard, will have an Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Visitors to the garden will be able to chat one-on- one with representatives from Earth Share of Missouri organizations. Groups that will participate will include the Center for Plant Conservation; EarthWays Center of the Missouri Botanical Garden; Endangered Wolf Center; Friends of the Children's Eternal Rainforest; Green Center; Trailnet; Gateway Greening; Open Space Council for the St. Louis Region; Ozark Regional Land Trust; and the St. Louis Audubon Society. The event is included with general garden admission of $8 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under. 04.27 Youth Service Day * VolunTEENnation.org will host Global Youth Service Day in the St. Louis region with a military card appreciation event for Operation Shower from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Center of Clayton, 50 Gay Avenue. All ages are welcome at this free event to create cards for expecting military families. Operation Shower is a nonprofit organization with the mission to provide joyful baby showers for military families to ease the stress of deployment. 314-503-5853

04.28 Community garage sale * Radio station WIL, 92.3 FM, is sponsoring Cornbread's World's Largest Garage Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Fairmount Park Race Track on Collinsville Road in Collinsville. The station's morning show host, known as Cornbread, will oversee more than 300 people who will be selling their treasure trove of items. The event is sponsored in part by MERS Goodwill, and is open to the public, with an admission charge of $5 per person. Children ages 12 and younger will be admitted for free. …
