MICDS Standout Loses Shot at 3,200 Title; Sectional Track; Bartelsmeyer Still in Four Events at the State Meet

LADUE * Amos Bartelsmeyer tried to find the silver lining but there wasn't much there.

The heavy favorite to win the Missouri Class 3 3,200-meter race, Bartelsmeyer was disqualified at the Sectional 1 meet Saturday at MICDS.

The zone judge ruled Bartelsmeyer broke from his lane too soon, thereby disqualifying himself from the race. The judge was MICDS distance track coach Paul Zahller, Bartelsmeyer's coach.

Bartelsmeyer's time of 9 minutes, 15 seconds at Marion Freeman earlier this spring was the second-fastest time in the state of Missouri and far and away the best time in Class 3.

The sectional meet was forced to go an extra hour after the Class 3 girls 300-meter hurdles was rerun. The first time the event was run during the meet there was a flight of hurdles that were not set to the proper height and the timer did not start when the gun went off. …
