WELDON SPRING * After a second-place showing at its own tournament over the weekend, the St. Joseph's volleyball team didn't like the way it came out of the gate Tuesday.

Down 9-3 in the blink of an eye against host Howell, the Angels outscored the Vikings 47-23 the rest of the way to notch matching 25- 16 scores and a two-game sweep of the non-conference match.

With its eighth win in nine matches, St. Joe's improved to 12-4. The Angels are the No. 2 team in the STLhighschoolsports.com large- schools rankings.

Francis Howell, ranked fifth among large schools, fell to 9-4.

"We couldn't do anything right, it seemed," Vikings coach Justin Young said. "We didn't pass very well. We made lots of physical mistakes there and, when you can't pass, you can't really do much else."

After a 7-0 run gave the Vikings that 9-3 lead in Game 1, the Angels went to work. …
