Seen and heard

The questions kept coming and Victor Cruz kept answering.

For more than an hour, even though Wednesday's media session for many teammates had already ended, Cruz fielded questions and offered insight yet again into his story.

The most compelling answer: he recalled at the age of 13 how his godfather Jimmy Salmon - a nationally renowned AAU basketball coach - brought him to a game on Tobacco Road between Duke and North Carolina.

"That was the first time I thought, 'I want to be a big-time athlete,'" Cruz said.

MVP? 'Why not'

Hall of Fame CB and NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders broached the topic that - until the question was asked - Cruz said he and his teammates had not yet considered.

Sanders wanted to know if Cruz, Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks had talked about the possibility of any one of them becoming Super Bowl MVP Sunday night.

"We all subconsciously understand that one of us could possibly get the MVP," Cruz said. "And, whoever it is, we'll all be happy for each other and we'll be able to hoist up that Lombardi Trophy at the end of the game. …
