Wood-Ridge Gets First Peek at School Remodeling Plan

WOOD-RIDGE -- Borough officials got their first glimpse Monday of how the Wood-Ridge Intermediate School would look once it's renovated.

Executives with Di Cara/Rubino Architects of Wayne showed floor plans and layouts of the project in an informal sessions with members of the Borough Council, describing how classrooms, a gymnasium and cafeteria within the 74-year-old the former Assumption School would be updated and converted into a public facility.

In their 50-minute presentation, architects showed the design and layout of classrooms, color schemes, the location of administrative offices and elevators, features of the heating system, along with a timeline for the project to meet its September 2013 target opening date.

"We have overall a 14-month construction schedule, working backward from August [2013]," said Joseph A. Di Cara, the firm's principal. "At the beginning of August, you will have your cleanup, move-in period and then the board can occupy the building and get it ready for September. …
