All-North Jersey week kicks off this weekend.

It's The Record's version of awards season, coming three times each school year.

And in the case of wrestling, which runs in Sunday's paper, we can let you in on a little secret. The All-County and All-North Jersey teams will not be taking a huge hit from graduation come the start of the 2012-13 season.

A year after failing to reach the top of the podium in Atlantic City, North Jersey put five wrestlers into the state finals and came away with two championships -- both by underclassmen.

In all, 12 of the 25 place-winners from North Jersey are underclassmen. Seven of those underclassmen finished in the top four in the state.

That trend trickled down to the postseason teams as nine of the 14 first-team All-North Jersey wrestlers are underclassmen. Nine of the 15 first-team All-Bergen wrestlers and eight of the 17 All- Passaic first-teamers also will be returning next season.

It's a situation that has some local wrestling fans already talking about what North Jersey wrestlers can accomplish next season. …
