Boyfriend Pleads Not Guilty to Murdering Passaic Woman

The boyfriend of a 47-year-old Passaic woman was arraigned in state court Thursday on charges he murdered her amid a domestic dispute by plunging a knife into her chest.

Hardly audible and looking down at the floor during the brief proceedings, 52-year-old Eric Ingram pleaded not guilty before Judge Marilyn C. Clark in Paterson to charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Clark referred the matter to a grand jury for further action. Ingram is being held in the Passaic County Jail on $2 million bail.

Police found Ann Tosen stabbed once in the heart in the couple's Eighth Avenue apartment in Passaic on Feb. 21. An off-duty officer who lives in the same building heard screams coming from the second floor just after 11:20 that night, authorities have said. When the officer went to investigate, he saw the boyfriend leaving the building, according to officials.

Tosen was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, where she died less than an hour later. …
