CLIFTON -- An Ohio woman felt so bad about the idea of brides being jilted by their bridal shop that she has offered to donate her own dress to help.

Valerie Douglas of Cincinnati wants to give her unused dress to a customer of Bridals by Roma in Clifton, which abruptly closed its doors despite outstanding orders for wedding gowns. In the past several days, brides have lined up outside the store to track down their dresses and ask about their deposits. Police have even been called to the store to "keep the peace" and some customers have been let in individually for alterations.

Douglas heard about the fiasco on a local news program and thought about her own new dress, sitting in its package: a sleeveless white gown trimmed with flowers with diamond replicas in their centers.

She bought the $1,100 dress of her dreams for her July 1 wedding last year, but the ceremony was changed to a smaller, scaled-down affair after her mother-in-law fell seriously ill. She never wore the dress. …
