Tonight

No. 1 Don Bosco (0-1) vs. St. Thomas Aquinas (2-0), 8 p.m.

Story line: Don Bosco saw its 46-game winning streak come to a surprising and listless end Saturday night against Gilman. The Ironmen's defense hung tough for four quarters, but their special teams and offense had multiple breakdowns. The Raiders are one of the top teams in South Florida. They won mythical national titles in 2008 and 2010 (Don Bosco won those crowns in 2009 and 2011). The game will be televised live on ESPN2 from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The pick: St. Thomas Aquinas

No. 4 Wayne Hills (1-0) at Wayne Valley (1-0), 7 p.m.

Story line: This cross-town rivalry has attracted much more attention off the field than on it since the teams last met nearly a year ago. But Wayne Valley will attempt to snap the Patriots' six- game winning streak against the Indians in a game that should be more competitive than Wayne Hills' 41-0 win last Sept. 24. Wayne Hills junior QB Justin DeGroat will make his first varsity start in place of injured senior standout Kevin Olsen (foot).

The pick: Wayne Hills

No. 2 Bergen Catholic at Bishop Gorman (Nev.), 10 p.m.

Story line: The Crusaders have traveled cross-country to face a Bishop Gorman team that's ranked No. 10 nationally by MaxPreps and led by quarterback Anu Solomon, a four-year starter. Bergen Catholic (MaxPreps' No. 11 team) has its own special QB in Jon Germano. Expect a high-scoring, tight game from these two remarkable offenses. The game will be televised on MSG Plus.

The pick: Bergen Catholic

No. 14 Old Tappan at No. 5 Pascack Valley, 6 p.m.

Story line: Both these teams are coming off impressive Week 1 wins and will face their first true challenge of the season. Pascack Valley is an experienced, hard-nosed bunch led by talented senior QB Kyle Schneider. Old Tappan's senior WR John Trainor is coming off a three-TD performance.

The pick: Pascack Valley

No. 7 River Dell at No. 20 Mahwah, 7 p.m.

Story line: Mahwah is trying to win its fifth straight. Led by senior QB Zach Herrmann, the Thunderbirds have scored at least 35 points during their streak. After a convincing opening win over West Essex, led by senior QB Tim Barnes, River Dell should be a confident bunch as it travels to Mahwah. …
