A hauling company taking part in The Big Book Drive picked up hundreds of donated children's books from the Allendale and Fair Lawn libraries on Tuesday and delivered them to Paterson.

Adam Wachter, general manager of 1-800-GOTJUNK, and company employees unloaded the impressive haul at the Paterson Free Public Library's Southside branch on Main Street, said Cynthia Czesak, the library director.

The book drive is an effort of the Paterson library and The Record and the Herald News to gather as many books as possible for Paterson children to take home.

Czesak reported Tuesday that the Paterson library received $1,000 worth of new children's books from an anonymous donor in Bergen County.

"It's a beautiful collection for early elementary school-aged children," the library director said.

Also on Tuesday, the Friends of the Hawthorne Library called Czesak to offer a donation.

Partners in the Big Book Drive include the Ridgewood, Maywood Allendale and Fair Lawn libraries. …
