The watercolorist's works, which range from intricate paintings of orbs and geometric shapes to energetic sketches of musicians at work, will be on display at the Fort Lee library.

* MONARCH BUTTERFLY RELEASE

The Garretson Forge and Farm historic site is holding its annual butterfly release with an extra note of urgency this year: The monarch is dwindling in numbers, due to deforestation and loss of milkweed. Visitors can get information and supplies on how to start their own butterfly nursery.

When: 1:30 p.m.

Where: Garretson Forge and Farm, 4-02 River Road, Fair Lawn.

* LABOR DAY CELEBRATION

The American Labor Museum, marking its 30th anniversary, will offer speakers on the centennial of the Paterson Silk Strike, music from Anne Feeney and the New Jersey Industrial Union Council (IUC) "Solidarity Singers," and museum tours. Event will be held in the Old World Gardens, but moves indoors in case of rain.
