The watercolorist's works, which range from intricate paintings of orbs and geometric shapes to energetic sketches of musicians at work, will be on display at the Fort Lee library.

When: Through September and October. 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Jost joined "Saturday Night Live" as a writer right out of college - Harvard, that is, where he was president of the Harvard Lampoon. Currently head writer at "SNL," Jost has also been seen on "John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show" and "Gotham Comedy Live."

The Garretson Forge and Farm historic site is holding its annual butterfly release with an extra note of urgency this year: The monarch is dwindling in numbers, due to deforestation and loss of milkweed. Visitors can get information and supplies on how to start their own butterfly nursery.

The American Labor Museum, marking its 30th anniversary, will offer speakers on the centennial of the Paterson Silk Strike, music from Anne Feeney and the New Jersey Industrial Union Council (IUC) "Solidarity Singers," and museum tours. Event will be held in the Old World Gardens, but moves indoors in case of rain.
