EAST RUTHERFORD -- David Wilson paused for a moment, as if he did not want to answer the question.

He confidently told reporters just moments before that he felt no pain in his neck. He had full range of motion. He even insisted he could have played Thursday night.

But when asked if he's worried his injury -- initially diagnosed as spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column -- could end his season, Wilson responded with one naked word.

"Yeah."

Then the Giants' second-year back added: "But I keep faith, and I try to stay positive."

Wilson, 22, will seek a second opinion Monday in Los Angeles from spinal surgeon Dr. Robert Watkins after an X-ray raised concerns.

He said he's optimistic the injury he suffered Sunday against Philadelphia isn't serious and even claimed he could play Oct. 21 against Minnesota.

But players such as Michael Irvin, Chris Samuels and Eli Manning's older brother, Cooper, have seen their careers end prematurely due to stenosis. …
