West Milford Rallies to Tie Indian Hills in Opener

WAYNE - Freshman Brandon Little got the equalizing goal with 3:13 left in the third period as West Milford came from behind to forge a 3-3 tie with Indian Hills on opening night of the hockey season at the Ice Vault.

Little was able to settle a loose puck in front about 12 feet from goal and sent a slap shot past Braves goaltender Josh Welte that allowed the Highlanders to overcome a 3-1 deficit entering the third period.

"The puck came loose and I just saw the top of the net," Little said of his game-tying tally. "We did a much better job of back checking in the third period and it gave us some chances."

Both teams got on the scoreboard early, beginning with Indian Hills just 1:54 in. A Matt Dooley shot caromed off a skate in front to a wide-open Kenny Wray in the right slot and he went short side for the tally. …
