Article excerpt

Live from New York, it's Joe Piscopo!

Piscopo is the new host of Salem's WNYM-AM (970), "The Answer" weekday morning show -- filling the gap left (6 to 9 a.m.) by Curtis Sliwa's exit.

"For the first time in my life, I'm putting my college degree to good use," quipped the Hun- terdon County resident and recently inducted member of the New Jersey Hall of Fame. "It's about time my parents got their money's worth."

The comedian, actor and Garden State native is best known for his 1980-84 stint on NBC-TV's "Saturday Night Live" and for coining the phrase, "You from JOISEY? I'm from JOISEY."

"When I was being brought up in New Jersey, I remember my father always having the radio on in the car listening to the greats like John Gambling, William B. Williams and Dan Ingram. It's an honor for me, at this point in my career to be on the airwaves of New York and New Jersey," said Piscopo.
