* Cresskill junior Sean Kelly had a breakout week to help extend the team's winning streak to eight, entering Monday's action. Kelly averaged 20 points and eight rebounds in wins over Waldwick, Emerson, and St. Mary. Kelly (15.8 ppg) had 29 points, eight boards and three assists in the 64-49 win over Waldwick.

* Eastside extended its record for Passaic County finals appearances to 21 by beating DePaul, 50-44, in the semifinals Saturday. But Kennedy, which topped Hawthorne Christian to qualify for its 18th final, has won the most Passaic championships (11) since the tournament began in 1971. Eastside has won eight.

* Fort Lee senior G DaShaun Washington scored his 1,000th career point during Thursday's 59-47 loss to Pascack Hills. Washington scored a game-high 20 against the Cowboys and is among North Jersey's leading scorers at 20.7 ppg.

* The winning three-pointer Kennedy sophomore guard Alphonso Gee made Saturday to beat Hawthorne Christian, 38-36, in the Passaic semifinals marked the fourth time in the past two seasons a Passaic tournament game was decided by a three-point buzzer-beater. Passaic senior G Jemal Dye beat Clifton, 44-43, with two seconds left in the preliminary round Feb. 1. DePaul's Jordan Thomas, then a freshman, defeated Eastside in last season's final, 59-56, with a heave from just beyond midcourt in overtime. In the quarterfinals last season, Passaic's Matthew Cancel beat Passaic Tech, 54-51, with a buzzer- beating three.

* Sophomore F Brian Patterson has been a rebounding force off the bench for Kennedy since becoming eligible earlier this month. The 6- foot Patterson is averaging 9.6 rebounds in five games for the Knights (15-9).

* Northern Highlands (14-6) extended its winning streak to four with Saturday's 75-40 defeat of Indian Hills. During those four games, junior G Jack Bors (team-leading 17.2 ppg) has averaged 18.5 points, junior F Rich Holle has accounted for 13 points and 11 rebounds, and junior F Alex Starr has averaged 12 points.

* Weehawken's 11-game winning streak includes coach Jake McNish's 300th career win. The Hawthorne resident, a health and physical education teacher in his 20th season as coach, hit 300 when Weehawken (15-8) defeated host Secaucus, 58-54, on Feb. …
