Masked Men Rampage through Auto Body Lot

SADDLE BROOK -- Police are asking the public to help them identify four vandals -- wearing peculiar masks -- who went on a 20- minute weekend rampage, spray-painting more than 25 cars and smashing their windows. Police said the vandals caused $40,000 in damage early Saturday evening at the SB Maaco Auto Body Shop on North Fifth Street.

Deputy Chief Robert White said the damage was not discovered until the managers of the business arrived Monday morning and saw the cars sprayed with obscenities in white paint.

A security video pinpointed the time of the attack and revealed that the damage was caused by four men wearing white masks with black stars over the eye area, similar to the makeup used by a rocker in the group "Kiss." White described the intruders as having slight to medium builds and in their teens to early 20s.

They used metal pipes, a fire extinguisher and a shovel to smash windshields and windows in several of the cars, White said. At one point, the video shows the men attacking a 2010 Mercedes-Benz S400, then fleeing when the car's alarm started to sound. …
