Sportscaster to Speak at Wpu Graduation

Former WGHT-AM (1500) and WFAN-AM (660) sports guy Kevin Burkhardt will deliver the keynote address Wednesday for his alma mater, William Paterson University, at the com-mencement at the Izod Center in East Rutherford.

"It's such an honor to be the keynote speaker for the place I credit with so much of my development," said Burkhardt. "Hopefully I can inspire those graduating to achieve great things!"

The 1997 graduate was recently named host of Fox television's Major League Baseball coverage.

"It's a dream come true to have a chance to host Major League Baseball to such a huge audience. Feels like yesterday that I was broadcasting the Wayne baseball tournament at Passaic County Tech [on WGHT]. I'm just really excited for the opportunity."

Burkhardt will be doing 11 Fox dates, plus the playoffs and World Series.

In his spare time, he'll continue working as field reporter for the New York Mets on SNY, a job he has held since 2007. Prior to joining SNY, he covered all sports for WFAN, reported for Time Warner Cable and worked as an afternoon sports anchor at WCBS-AM (880).

He began his broadcasting career on the WPU campus, covering Pioneer athletic events for the school television channel.


Emmis Communications Corp. has entered into a joint venture with Flexco, owned by WQHT-FM (97.1) on-air personality Funkmaster Flex, to build a network of owned and operated digital platforms for Emmis' biggest personalities.

Flex has an online and mobile audience with and the DJ Funk Flex Mobile app. Flex will be working with other personalities and in other Emmis markets to develop similar digital footprints.

Emmis plans to develop a network of sites, apps and social networks. Flex has already launched for Angie Martinez, afternoon drive personality on WQHT, andthatsenuff. …
