Diane Nash Day

One of the longtime civil rights icons in American culture paid a visit to our fair city last week. Diane Nash led the fight to end segregation in Nashville, Tenn., and other places in the South during the 1960s. She was feted in grand style with Mayor Lloyd Winnecke declaring Sept. 19 Diane Nash Day in Evansville. The stellar gathering enjoyed dinner and Nash's remarks, celebrating another year of service by the City-County Human Relations Commission. Pictured before the dinner are HRC Executive Director Diane Clements, Nash and Ruby McGlowan of the Evansville Housing Authority. Bravo on a great event!

Board members and volunteers got together last week to kick planning off for the second annual Black and Pink Ball to be held at Old National Bank Atrium on Nov. 3 with a beautiful dinner dance!
