Luxury hotels, a civic auditorium, a riverfront pavilion, bars, taverns, VFW posts and a square dance club will offer an array of ways to welcome the New Year in our area. A big band, jazz bands, country and rock bands, deejays and square dance callers will take to area stages for an eclectic collection of celebrations featuring barbecue, prime rib, hot chocolate, beer, Champagne and shattered watermelon, dropped in a smashing display backlit by fireworks.

Indiana's French Lick and West Baden Springs hotels will beckon revelers looking for a luxurious, leisurely welcome to 2013.

The West Baden Springs Hotel offers a $599 couples package that includes overnight accommodations, dinner for two and dancing under the historic atrium dome to the Al Cobine Big Band. The new year will arrive to the communal clinking of Champagne toasts.

Down the road, the French Lick Springs Hotel will go back to the future with a retro, Roaring' 20s-themed New Year's Eve celebration. The $459 couples package includes overnight accommodations, a dinner buffet and live music from two bands playing continuously from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Both hotels will offer New Year's alternatives for children, with age-appropriate food, beverages and activities for those ages 6 to 12 and 12 to 18.

And the French Lick Casino will cater to country tastes, with cold beer and live music by Tim Dugger and the Dirt Road Band. For more information, call 888-936-9360.

The RiverPark Center in Owensboro, Ky., will make it a party with food from Fire Up the Grille, a deejay dance club in the Berry Cabaret Theatre and a night of live, country acts in the 1,500-seat Cannon Hall. The activities will run from 6 p.m. Monday until 2 a.m. Tuesday.

The cabaret theater will transform into a posh dance club featuring signature cocktails, state-ofthe-art sound and lights and music from DJ Dance Mixer Todicous.

Cannon Hall will open at 7 p.m., beginning a lineup of country acts including Jaclyn Graves, Rachel Timberlake and Bone Pony before the headliners, Lo-Cash Cowboys, take the audience into 2013. …
