Sex Offender Pleads Guilty to Burglary, Sexual Battery

A Vanderburgh County Circuit Court magistrate has accepted a plea deal sentencing sex offender Larry Huffines to six years in prison for entering a house and grabbing a girl while on parole for a 2001 stalking conviction. When Huffines, 60, appeared in court on Tuesday, Magistrate Kelli Fink accepted his pleas of guilty to charges of burglary and sexual battery. He could face additional prison time for violating his parole.

He agreed to plead guilty to the charges last month in return for a 10-year sentence on the burglary charge and the three-year maximum for battery, with those sentences to be served concurrently.

Fink ordered Huffines to serve six of his 10 years in prison and the remaining four on probation. But with credit for time already spent in jail and Indiana's practice of cutting sentences in half for good behavior, it is likely that Huffines will spend less than three years behind bars.

However, Fink also ordered that any sentence Huffines receives for violating his parole should be served consecutive to his current sentence. …
