USI Women Need to Talk It Up

The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team better have its vocal cords warmed up. The way Wisconsin-Parkside plays, the Eagles will need to do a lot of talking.

Communication, said USI coach Rick Stein, is paramount in guarding the Rangers successfully.

"One of the things Parkside does is they run so many set plays they really challenge you to talk," said USI coach Rick Stein. "They really screen you to death. Then they wind up with open layups or an open (3-pointer) for one of their best 3-point shooters."

The Eagles (16-4, 8-4 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will host the Rangers (13-7, 7-5) starting at 1 p.m. today at the Physical Activities Center.

USI is coming off one of its biggest victories of the season, a 68-55 triumph over No. 24 Lewis on Thursday night that avenged a road loss to the Flyers.

On that same trip USI lost at Parkside in a game that USI led by three points before a flurry of turnovers led to a 69-53 defeat. …
