Ex-Youth Ball Treasurer Jailed ; Accused of Stealing Mt. Vernon League Funds

The former treasurer of the Mount Vernon (Ind.) Youth Baseball program has been charged with nine counts of theft after police said they linked him to more than $5,800 in missing funds from the program's account, according to Posey County court records. Adam J. Bauman, 34, of Mount Vernon, was held Wednesday afternoon in the Posey County Jail. He appeared in Posey Superior Court on Wednesday and entered a preliminary plea of not guilty to the charges.

Judge Brent Almon reduced Bauman's bail to $500.

Bauman's next court appearance is scheduled for March 19.

Attorney Jean Hadley, who represents Bauman, could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.

Bauman used the organization's debit card for personal purchases ranging from $855 at Sam's Club and $563 for St. Louis Cardinals tickets to $1.89 for a pack of gum at Huck's convenience store, according to his arrest affidavit.

It also states that he made cash withdrawals totaling $2,900 between January and August 2012. …
