Man Accused in Two Incidents ; Same Woman Involved after Bail Posted

The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against a man for two recent incidents involving the same woman. John T. Wells III, 44, faces charges of criminal confinement and strangulation, which are felonies, and misdemeanor counts of battery resulting in bodily injury and invasion of privacy.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, the first three charges stem from an incident Friday morning, for which he originally was jailed.

Wells posted bail and was released from jail but deputies arrested Wells again after he tried contacting the woman.

According to a sheriff's office news release, Wells first was arrested after a 26-year-old woman, who identified Wells as her ex- boyfriend, said the two had been in an altercation at an address in the 600 block of Sleepy Falls, in western Vanderburgh County. The woman told deputies the apartment belongs to Wells but she had been staying there because of some personal problems.

The woman reported Wells got angry with her because she had sent a text message to her ex-husband, according to the sheriff's office. …
