USI Offers Certificate in Project Management
In collaboration with Project Management Institute (PMI), Southwestern Indiana Chapter, USI's Division of Outreach and Engagement will offer a new Certificate in Project Management program this fall. Individuals who complete the certificate will learn about the basics and best practices of project management. "Project management is a process that instills a necessity to change how one deals with the unknown unknowns of life and the uncertainties of chance in the conduct of events having a definite beginning and ending," said Dr. Curtis Colleton, president of PMI Southwestern Indiana Chapter. "Mastering the established tools and techniques in the project management body of knowledge will assure your project success by reducing the incidence of risks in your project execution."
The certificate program consists of 12 sessions beginning on Tuesday, September 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at USI. Sessions will continue on Tuesdays through December 3. An accelerated format also is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on five Wednesdays beginning October 2 at Innovation Pointe in downtown Evansville.
Professionals in the fields of business and financial management, engineering, construction, energy and power, health care and pharmaceuticals, human resources, procurement, information technology, manufacturing, logistics, research and development, telecommunications, education, and more are encouraged to participate.
Courses in the program include History and Overview of Project Management, Project Management Framework, Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Time Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality Management, Project Human Resource Management, Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management, Project Procurement Management, and Project Stakeholder Management. …
