Mayor to lead Clean Team duty before holidays

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Clean Evansville volunteers will pick up litter on the city's East Side from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in an effort to spruce up one of the city's busiest shopping districts before the holiday season.

Clean Teams will focus on an area roughly bounded by Morgan Avenue, Green River Road, Burkhardt Road and the Lloyd Expressway.

One team will be led by Mayor Winnecke and will gather at the parking lot near Logan's Roadhouse at Burkhardt Road and the Lloyd Expressway. Other teams will meet at parking lots at the Lloyd and Green River Road near Burlington Coat Factory, at Green River and Virginia Street near Acropolis Restaurant, at Green River and Vogel Road near Bob Evans restaurant, and at the parking lot at Green River and the Lloyd Expressway near Donut Bank.

Clean team volunteers are still being recruited. To join a team or to learn how to organize your own team and be counted as part of Keep America Beautiful and the Clean Evansville Initiative, call Keep Evansville Beautiful at 812-425-4461.

Clean Evansville is a community partnership between the city of Evansville and Keep Evansville Beautiful with support from Republic Services, Rural King and community volunteers.


Museum painting class canvassing for students

Cynthia Watson will teach a five-week painting class for beginner and intermediate level painters, beginning Tuesday in the Evansville Museum.

Monday is the deadline to register for the class, which will meet Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon through Dec. 3 in the Evansville Museum's studio classroom. Supplies are provided by students. The class is $185 dollars for museum members and $200 for nonmembers.

Students will work with acrylic, watercolor or oil paints, choosing their subject matter and working at their own pace. Watson has taught photo realism, experimental, whimsical and other styles at the museum, Dick Blick, The Boys & Girls Club and her studio.

'Maggie's Memories' creator to personalize designs

Margaret Haire, an Evansville resident and creator of Maggie's Memories, will sign and personalize her creations and designs today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gehlhausen Florals, 735 S. Green River Road.


Pelvic floor disorders talk set at Women's Hospital

The Women's Hospital will host a pelvic floor disorder discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the third floor classroom of The Women's Hospital, 4199 Gateway Blvd.

The event is free and for women only. Drs. Constantine Scordalakes, Marshall Howell, Charles Wakefield, and physical therapist Kim Snyder will offer expert advice about pelvic floor disorder signs, symptoms and treatment options.
